Wahaey, partial success thanks to RobB. I cleaned around the coil terminals as best I could. They are well past their best, I,ve got tape on me ht leads that was already there & there was lots of corrosion just about on every contact. Managed to give everything a quick wire brush in my haste to see if that was the problem & now it sometimes revs to the redline (strained tho) & I get flames coming out the exhaust each time which is I believe unburnt fuel. It still doesnt sound right (a bit rough for my liking) but I,m making progress. When I get a good set of ht leads & coils & exhaust downpipes of Jmez next week things should get better again. I think its running as good as poss at the min tho considering the state of the coils & leads & the hole in the manifold , oh & the silencer literally droped on the manifold lol!. At least it now revs to 14k sometimes instead of 8 & the flames look cool :smt003 .
Gonna celebrate this after with a few snakebites.
cheers RobB!!.

ps, got me adapter in this mornings post & the readings on all cylinders are fine, well within limits (phew).
