Started with this, a 1993 ZXR400 L3 with 12000 miles on the clock, but very rough round the edges. Came with a lovely 4 into 1 titanium (possible Beet) exhaust system. Has toad loads of tacky anodised nuts and bolts all over the fairings. Bought for £2000 from ebay 'buy it now' in May 2004. didnt ride it till August because i bought it while i was banned from driving.
The night i started, this was about 11 o'clock at night i got going, i was 'bored'. Got all the fairings and tank off.
next day, strip it bare!!
And in 8 hours reduced it to this
The engine out and in a right state!
Frame, swingarm, sub-frame, all brackets, guards, suspension linkages (basically everything that could be powder coated, was). All cost £120
Lets get together!
Wheels went to a seperate powder coaters, and was chuffed to f*** how they turned out, absolutely beautiful! £120

Looking good but far from complete. All nuts bolts etc, where cleaned and copper greased before they went on the bike, if it was manky or looked toad it was replaced.
Cutting off that mudguard to shapen things up a bit! This is how it should be done.

How it basically looks now
I started this all in February 2005 and practically came to a standstill that September as i went to uni, but managed to get a couple of hundred miles in before i had to go which was quite satisfying!
Most recent additions, an ASC carbon oval exhaust can for £105 and a carbon fibre tank cover i forget the price now. £35 comes to mind from ebay.
All in al ive spent £2000 buying it, and have spent a further £2.5K getting it to where it is now. The most expensive parts were the wavey disks, they needed doing as the originals were warped and costs £350 for the lot including pads. Next biggest payout was the paint which i have bought seperately, that was £210. Next biggest payout will be getting ti painted, got a quote for £300 but that would be cheaper if i did some of the prep before hand.

PAINT IT!!!!! Ive been saying for so long that i need to get this done and unfortunately its not happening, next lot of student loan comes in end of april and the last term is only 6 weeks long (half than normal for uni) so fingers crossed i should have some free cash to finally have it done. This is a photoshop of what it should roughly look like, its the green benelli use on thier tornado, absolutely lovely colour.
Loks a bit odd in this picture as its been photoshopped but you get the idea!
Replace the front brake fluid reservoir, the little screw just spins round.
Make ally bracket for the exhaust.
Get some rearsets. Apparently R6 footrests fit, ive yet to confirm this, but if its true then im going for a set of Gilles rearsets in black.
6 pot calipers are on the list also.
Hopefully more to come this summer, and beyond (zxr street fighter ideas floating around my head), so WATCH THIS SPACE!!
