Finally finished my exhaust bracket

Painted it Matt black today, or more precisely hammerite high temperature paint





Thinking of doing the footrests too in that colour, ive used it before on my XJR400 footrests, looked quite nice.

Just done another coat now, might have a look for that hard hat stuff. I can always clean it up again if need be. Thing is with this stuff is i cant get rid of the brush marks

i did my bottom yoke in it robB and its crap so ended up nitromorsing it off and hardhatting it.

nah, don't like it. looks really out of place alongside the gloss frame and shiny carbon. (and the numberboard, but that's going.)

Yeah i reckon gloss black too, something for me to do next week then!

Ive got some gloss finish hammerite but i always get brush marks, if i take Baz's wheels for example were he's used hammerite, he's got a nice smooth finish.

i've always found hammerite seems to have enough surface tension that the brush marks disappear if you are gentle enough. maybe I just put it on really thick!

didn't use hammerite on my wheels RobB its 2k epoxy gloss paint, i sprayed them at work in our spraybooth.

Used Hammerite to paint it yesterday, got the dreaded streaks so what i did was dip the brush in some white spirit, let it drain off slightly and then go over the top of the paint id already done, did the job beautifully. Cant believe i didnt think of just using gloss black, it makes complete sense now.





Thinking of doing the footrests next, but thinking i should get them powder coated rather than hammerite them.

i wouldent try painting footrests personaly, or powdercoating as your boots will just rub anything you put on there off

Not sure if anodiseing would stand up better though?

footrests definitely need to be black as well, but agree that wear is an issue. I guess powdercoating would probably stand up to your boots a bit better than just painting. Alternatively you could argue that they will both wear and it's easier/cheaper to just touch up the paint occasionally.

Agree with painting so that if it does wear off its just a case of repainting, i had thought of that too actually. Perhaps just a hard wearing paint would do it, is hammerite hard wearing?

i found hammerite to wear quickly, like i said i very much dout you'll find anything that will look good and last longer than 5 min ride
