i imagine the 7R is a lot longer geared, so will be a couple of thousand rpm lower (and hence quieter and less vibey at 70)

Suzuki DR800 - bouncy
1978 Suzuki GS400 - PROJECT RETRO RACER!

TBH I've done 55, 000 miles on a ZZR1100 and you don't notice any difference between that and the 400 at 80 mph. It don't vibe, in fact 8, 000 rpm in top seems to be the resonance sweet spot.

The only issue is the comfort factor.

I have solved that by re-covering my seat and swapping the old foam for a gel pad.

yeah thats exactly it, 70 on the 7R is about 5 or 6K if my memory serves me right, and the 400 is about 7Kish. I always remember the 400 revs cos in top gear every thousand Rpm is worth about 10mph on the speedo, or there about.

Hehe 85 mph on the ZZR1100 is a whopping 5, 000 rpm. :) :)

The jump from a 400 to a 600 isn't wothwhile. I think most of us on this site have gone to 750's or above!

I've been looking for new insurance quotes, and it seems that the days of "ride any other bike" type policies are numbered.

Not many are offering it now, and I suspect that number will drop as the trend catches on...

In my experience the difference in peformance and the additional costs make for lousy R.O.I on a 600/750/1000cc bike.

Those bikes are toys, not transport. :(

Na i think the new R6 GSXR 6 triumph daytona 675 they are all much faster than the good old 400's not much between them an a 750 to be fair. you can get these bikes up to 130 bhp with not much work which is easily old 750 land plus they are lighter so its not bad. you cant beat the 400 for commuting to work an doin the traffic its a thrill everytime. :smt004

what he said ^^

i guess the reason is to stop you buying a bike, putting it in your granny's name, and riding without paying for insurance.
