Petrol & the ZXR

Post by Scott221 »

Alrite lads,

So ive finally got my zxr, although, i havnt ridden it yet as i havnt actually got my license yet (test tommorow tho boys! :smt003 )

However im abit apprehensive about there not being a petrol inidcator. What kind of MPG am i looking at? I guess the only way to measure it is by resetting your the trip clocks? How do you get by?

Cheers,
Scott.

use the trip clock. Unless you are really pushing it then it will go more than 100 miles. and there's always the reserve tap.

Edit: mpg is about 40-45, but it depends how you are riding.

Edit again: good luck with your test!

I get about 130 miles to about £12 of petrol.

Good luck :smt003

It could be just me being Old Mr Spooky-Giblets again, but does anyone else get a feel of when they need to fill up?

I mean without clocking the mileage and stuff - I just 'know'...

Generally I try to keep track of the mileage though. 80 miles on my ZXR was time to look for fuel and get ready to switch to reserve if the engine went funny.

The best way to do it?

Strap a can of petrol on the pillion seat and ride until you have to stop and put it in the tank! :smt002

wish i did, i'm famous for running out of petrol.

like the other night, halfway up a big hill in wales. Had to call the RAC !!

anyone know why there arent any petrol stations in wales that are open after 7pm ??? its like going back in time !

On any bike i run it till i get to reserve then i have a benchmark of when i roughly need to fill up. But otherwise i usually fill up when the trip meter gets to 100 miles on my 7R even though it will easily do another 20 miles and then another 15 after that till i need to switch to reserve.

On my ZXR i think i used to do about 110 miles before i filled up. Think the most i ever got was 150 miles out of a tank before i hit reserve, but it does all depend on how you have been riding.

yea i get about a 100 before reserve but it does depend on how you ride however its hard not to thrash the ZXR cos it loves it.

i can get about 120-130 miles if i really push it but normally look round at about 100. i hate having to push bikes!

key, petrol cap, open, look.

you'll never need a fuel gauge again.

The trouble with having an open mind, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.
