Gutted!! :S

Post by zxr_oli »

The unimaginable just happned.
Riding along at around 110-115, i felt somthing large hit my ancle and then i the rear brake lever had alot of resitance, i thought it must have been a rock hit me and bent something.

I pulled over to find that the entire r/h side fairing had snapped clean off, and the bracket holding it on under the rearset had bent upwards stopping the brake lever :smt013 :smt010
Not bothered looking for it, got a chunk still bolted on at the frame so it would be pretty much useless.
So needa new fairing set now then :smt011 or atleast just the r/h fairing, was dark so couldnt really see if it damaged the front.

happened to a guy I new at uni. Was riding his NC30 along the M4 when *both* sides of the fairing blew off. Funny thing is he didn't notice until he got to his destination... :smt003

its a well known falut with the NC30's that the fairing will fly off ramdomaly, yet some how the bum boys still insist that god himself could craft a better bike a better made bike.

It happened on my VFR750 and neither I nor my pillion saw or felt a thing! It was just gone when I looked at it after filling up with petrol! :smt017

I had a similar experience on my ZXR400 with the RHS fairing again - I'm sure the full story is on here somewhere, but basically it came flying up and smacked me in the shoulder at about 90mph!

It scared the crap out of me, and pinned my right leg so I couldn't use the brake, and as I was clinging onto it with my right hand it made for an interesting moment when I got it all stopped! :smt003

Mine went back ok, but the mounting points were bent to fk (well, the rear one that was still attached was anyway).

It probably is worth trying to find it, because the chances are it'll be repairable for much cheaper than another panel.

Had a quick look on the way back from collage today, couldn't see anything.
Don't know if it's burried itself in the bushes, of someone has picked it up.

Anyone had any experience with Skidmarx? They seem a bit cheap - http://www.skidmarx.co.uk/prices_road_b ... wasaki.htm

They only seem cheap compared to Honda prices! :smt002

They could well be unpainted, too...

They seel the Skidmarx here - http://www.lm-spares.co.uk/acatalog/Kaw ... rings.html
They give you the option of the colour, i would choose the kawak green, but i'm willing to bet that that is just solid green without the blue like my others :smt009

Also, does anyone know if the L front and side fairings could be fitted to my H?
Just looking at pics, the mounting points seem similar, something like the AMS bodykit would be one option :P

I expect they are probably ok...nasty paintjob though.

If it was me I'd just buy a cheap fibreglass set. On that subject, has anyone ever bought fairings from these guys...

I'm after a spare set for trackdaying, but need a road fairing so I can actually ride to the track.
