H Model???????

Hi guys,

I've just bought a ZXR400 job lot and need some help? I want to build a new track bike and was wondering what are the major differences between a H and L model. I have a L5 at the moment. The bike I have just got is a H model (F reg) so it is very old.
I've noticed a few differences about the frame and the fairing I have been given seems very odd and does not look like any of the H or L models that I've seen on here?

Will do mate dont really know how to put any up tho!!!

The front frame on the L model has two holes where some of the cables go through yet my H model frame has none. Plus is the rear frame all one piece on the H model?

looking at the microfiches the subframe seems to be in 1 piece

yep, subframe one peice, frame has no hole in headstock for cables, they have to go underneith, the H has a frame strut that go's across the middle, just behind the carbs, the L does not. Also the L maybee slightly wider.

thats a ZX400 mate, not a ZXR400.

As you can see 3 very different bikes. I think the motor however, is the same, everything else is different.

p.s. ive edited the frame number out, you really dont wanna go posting that around!

Clever cheers guys, had a bit of an idea it was not a ZXR.

Was wondering if it was still possible to put a ZXR400 engine in or ZX6R one in?

I know there are probably some differences but it is like a ZXR400? If anyone can point us in th right direction as i want to make this into another track bike! or should i cut my losts and sell all???

as rob said, the engines are the same. it may also share the frame with the H model ZXR - certainly looks like it to me.

however i'd hazard a guess that it doesn't handle as well as either flavour of ZXR.

yea might have to look into it a bit more then decide what im going to do. I'll keep you posted!

Just have to compare a few things with my own ZXR400 and this model to see what i can get away with.

Thanks for the help guys bit of a relief now, i can start reading up on the ZX400.

Decided on going to sell that lot again. Just bought ZXR400 frame now to bulid my track bike.

Don't know if anyone knows are the ZX400 part quite rare??

They arent that common in the UK, only ever seen two.
