Questions about bearings
My H2 just failed it's mot for a knackered rear wheel bearing, so I ordered
replacements and set out to have a go.
First question - What's the best way to get the bearing out? A long flat blade
screwdriver perhaps? There looks to be just enough of an inner edge to catch,
but wondered what tool you guys would use.
Second question - on the disk side, there's a thick rubber washer that sits
on the outside of the bearing. Again, what's the best way you guys have
found to get it out, without causing too much damage.
Cheers.

Re: Questions about bearings
you missed this thread then? viewtopic.php?style=17&f=55&t=4688
yeah you can use a screwdriver or a even better some bearing pullers about £38 a set but worth it. the rubber rings are oilseals 35x52x7 i think, have a look on them for a size, you can rip them out but you will need to replace them.

Re: Questions about bearings
I knew there was play in the bearings, so bought replacements before the thread appeared,
ah well, not to worry.
Bearing pullers - sounds like a good idea.
Wasn't sure if the oil seal could be removed carefully, and hence not need replacing.

Re: Questions about bearings
where dya get the bearings from ? are they oem or replacements just check what they send you cos they may be rubber sealed anyway so it may not matter bout the oilseals.

Re: Questions about bearings
Sorry, they're replacements, not OEM.
The rubber I'm talking about is on the disk side and basically looks like a large
washer that sits in the hub on the outside of the bearing, in a groove.

Re: Questions about bearings
have a look on the microfiche mate should be a rubber seal either side of the wheel.

Re: Questions about bearings
Had a look at the fiche earlier, and did see the seal on both sides, but wondered
why there was only one on mine. Maybe explains why the sprocket side bearing
has gone before the disk side........

Re: Questions about bearings
the big seal can be prised out with a flat blade screwdriver without damaging it, use the same one to twat the bearings out of the wheel.

Re: Questions about bearings
Cheers all. I'll have to order one for the sprocket side, so might just go ahead
and order the disk side one too.

Re: Questions about bearings
Cheers, I'll do that. I mid-read the other thread, and thought it was all bearings
that were being talked about, not seals as well. Will let you know. thanks.
