carb cleaninghi

Post by lewisdale »

just stripped my carbs down and they were quite shitty inside, i noticed when i took the float bowls off that one of the end floats was sitting a lot lower than the rest, i take it this is probably the cause of my bike running crap, how do i adjust/set the float heights? another thing is, there are little rubber seals on the float need le housing, like o rings, do i have to order new ones or will ones out of a general o ring box set do the job? as mine are split, cheers guys

if your o-rings are split then yes it will run crap, as will your float height, i think you just bend the little tab under the floats to change the height.

check the manual i think its 11mm from memory, hang the carbs up and measure the floats, best look in the manual cos it shows a clear pic of how to measure them

gunna sound really thick now but dont understand the manual, am i right in thinking i have to tilt the carbs so the tang just about touches the needle and then measure from the part of the carb where the chamber bolts on, to the top of the float? or do i just lay the carbs upside down and do it?

ok thanks, so now just the one more thing i need to know lol, as my carbs have had 102 jets put in, which i understand are slightly bigger than standard, would i still use the same 2 1/4 turns on the mixture? or would it be different?

id stick to the original settings as a base point. then see how the bike runs from there.

HI JUST SETTING MY FLOAT HEIGHTS, TWO WERE AT 16 MM AND THE OTHER TWO WERE 10ISH, NOW THE SETTING IS 12 BUT THERE IS A 2 MM TOLERANCE EITHER WAY ISNT THERE? JUST TO CONFIRM, SO THEY DONT ALL HAVE TO BE BANG ON, FOR INSTANCE I COULD HAVE ONE AT 10MM AND ONE AT 14? OBVIOUSLY IM GOING TO GET THEM AS CLOSE AS POSSIBLE BUT JUST WANTED TO MAKE SURE THEY HAVENT GOT TO BE BANG ON? CHEERS
