quick action throttle

Post by Xphyral »

i fitted a quick action throttle to my z750 today :smt003

since getting hold of the zed i geared it down dropping 1 tooth front and up 2 rear sprocket in an attempt to place it's peakier revvy nature somewhere more usable everyday without having to hold the bike through second gear for so long. it dawned on me a bit later that the throttle action is really quite long as standard and has bothered me for ages, you need to either brake your wrist or adjust your hand position while opening the throttle to get it wide open and thats nigh on impossible on the way out of a corner when i want full throttle and my body position puts me at odds with it.

and now it's all fixed.. and fook me i should have done it last year, in terms of power it adds none but feels like i've given the bike a full tuning work over! for anyone who enjoys fast road riding and trying to make more power on a budget i heartily reccommend this mod. i wish i'd had it on the zxr400 for those times coming out of bends on full tilt and trying desperatly to find the second elbow you wished you had.

it took a few mins to get used to having to dial in much more precise amounts of throttle but like the original you soon settle into it and now the bike will dance out of a bend with the front end giving the air a high five without much problem at all :excited :excited :excited

The trouble with having an open mind, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.

I've never had a bike that seemed to need it? :smt017

What's it like on wet/icy roads?
Who needs tyres when you've got knees!!

bikes dont need any aftermarket parts jamz. but as i said the throttle had a massive amount of travel before being fully open and it was hard to get it fully open out of corners, especially right handers.

the same as any throttle is, dont open it too far and use some clutch. ice i won't have to contend with for another year so it doesn't bother me at all. wet roads are there for fun anyway.
