alright all as you know i bougth a zxr not long ago have found i have the 32mm carbs with 100 jets. i balanced the carbs and cleaned them today starts much better and actualy rides now originally would bog out was sat for 2 years. however there is a lack of power throught the rev range. in first i got it to 12000 rpm and it felt quick till 14 in second coundent get past 10000rpm and the revs just kept dropping as i went throuight the gears
no there are no washers on the inlet side would there be any on the exhaust side aswell this did cross my ming i have serviced it and balanced the carbs new plugs washed the filter [ sponge pipercross one ]
ok took th carbs apart completely today and foung that on the number 1 carb the atomizer was fairly clogged up with limescale is there any way water can get in via the little heater probe thingy in the carbs. was only this one other 3 were fine next week i will clean out the fuel tap and filter then put her back together and let it run on some good stuff
steve
are you supposed to grease the top bit were the slider diaghram thing sits back down as there was sme grease in there pic 2
yeah as you can see that emulsifier was well clogged up and inside the carb were it went have you got a vid of your rev gauge while you rev and your hand as you rev. would be good for me to compare it with response wise
alright no worries i saw some on youtube looks as though mine takes i litle lond to rev up will finish cleaning everything puy her back together and see how it goes
silly question is it an import ? as tot he 10k rpm issue as i THINK if you disconnect teh speedo they wont rev over 10k (well on the h they dont) so mayby it has had a reisitor put in place that has come loose?
also they doesnt seem to rev right whatso ever. hopefully just the carbs
its a 91 and i dont thinkits a import as it was first registered in 1991 and has lots of history none form japan am gonna soak the carb in vinigar tonight and clean it up then hopefully get it back on on the weekend it revs past 10k no worries with that
as far as carb innards are concerned DONT GREASE A FUCKING THING.that craps gets inside yer carbs and its bye bye time. i had a set of carbs that some muppet lubed up with copper slip. hellish job to clean out.
And don't rev it that much when it's cold. The rocker arms are made out of soft cheese. And they're 26 quid each for new ones. And there's 16. Food for thought
ROCKER ARMS !!!! i thought there were dohc with hydralic lifters and thats it. old skool lol anyway an update cleaned the carbs proper style now much more responsive and powerful no1 main jet was completely blocked however the revs hang a little now ?
heres a new vid. tapping aint that bad its the echo of the garage
are the rockers adjustable thenlike you would on a cvh engine for example
They are shimmed using little shims that sit on top of the valves. And can be adjusted without removing the camshafts the rockers just move to one side against a spring and the shim will lift out and you just put a new one in and slide the rocker back...................easy really
sounds like that needs a good carb balancing to me and the clearances done. Revs hang could be a result of unbalanced carbs, but equally it could be the inlets letting air in. Have you done up the clamps nice n tight?
