Uses for a dremel?
I found my dremel this morning while unpacking some more stuff in my new gaff.
I've never used it. I remember badgering my mum and dad for one for my birthday, and I've never used it. Nice looking bit o' kit though.
Ayone got any useful uses for a dremel?
List them here.
(and making a jack o' lantern from a flower pot isn't my idea of useful...)

Re: Uses for a dremel?
Dremels are great...................
grinding away the bit of crankcase to allow camchains out
Ingraving my name on dog tags
cutting the U bolts holding the springs on to the back axel of my van
trimming bodywork to make it fit
cutting stubborn brake caliper pins
cleaning the seal groove on brake calipers
sharpening the chain on my chainsaw
cleaning threads in all sorts of akward places
cutting small pieces of alley plate to make brackets
stiring coffee/tea
cutting off badly corroded nuts without damaging the thread
head is sore thinking.............................. but I'm always amaazed of often I think to myself in the workshop....................ahhhhhhhhhhh the Dremel will fix that

Re: Uses for a dremel?
Aye Rob,
The cheap copies are generally good. I bought a 12 quid one a few years back and used it to cut a side window in a steel case. Chewed through a good few cutting discs, but the "Dremyl"
worked a treat.
Whats the worst that can happen? Go for it, this aint a Dr. Pepper advert.

Re: Uses for a dremel?
mines a cheap-o one, its now my second one as my dad killed the last on while rebuilding his gay
thing (tons and tons of pollishing).
So unless youre going to use it close to insutrial levels then cheap ones are fine, the bits you get with them dont normaly work to well tho

Re: Uses for a dremel?
I had a cheapy one that I got for xmas a few years back, to be honest was pretty cr@p compared to the real Dremel I have now. I think it was £40 or so from one of the shopping channels, now I just use the bits that came with it in the Dremel. The cheap one you could stop the cutting disc even just cutting through thick plastic
As for uses, I mainly use mine for polishing or cutting.. normally find it too fast and not torquey enough for drilling (unless it's plastic)
That remins me, I need to go over the polished rims on my wheels this weekend if I get time as they've dulled a bit. Will probably buff up the front with the dremel and the rear I'll just whack it up on the paddock stand and let it idle in 1st.. proper youtube ghetto polishing
(yes I will watch my pinkies on the spokes/chain, hehe)

Re: Uses for a dremel?
If your polishing you may as well get a motor and get a chuck attached to the end of it which is what ive got at my mum's.
Will more than likely buy proper dremel bits once the ones it comes with wear out. Only thing i need it for is to finish of some of the plastice edges where ive cut the panels to fit the flush indicators. No doubt ill find even more uses!
