Had a bit of time today to go out and do a bit more work on the frame.

Trying to organise my time that at least go out for an hour each day to help progress :smt017

I know once I have a rolling chassis I am only looking at a weekend to then get everything else on with a hopeful Sunday evening fire-up :smt001

But this bit always seems to take for ever but a bit more progress done today.

started to sand out the rough cast, want to avoid painting as it's not part of my plan/image of the bike, things are starting to shape up though:

Then I accidentally put the felt disc onto my angle grinder and it found it's way to the cutting/finishing soap and this happened :smt005

ImageImageImage

By no means perfect as all I am doing is polishing up the factory finish as don't have the time to spend smoothing out the beams - maybe next strip down I'll take the time and then get it anodized :smt007 but for now this will do.

Only thing is the ding in the frame is now more noticeable but ultimately a steering damper is going to take away the bad look :smt002

ImageImageImage

Can still see the factory swill marks but I ain't entering this into a show, it's to be used :smt003

Swinger is getting it next :smt004

Id say you might regret polishing it, but you dont get the shitty weather and winter we get here so maybe itll be ok and wont need so much upkeep?

Don't get the shitty salt on the roads !

Would actually consider getting it chromed as the swinger and rocker cover on the Rex cleans up like new every time I give it a wipe over.

However, I do like the idea of having it done Champagne Gold anodized the same as the front fork tubes which i would also get re-done at the same time :smt007

Should be fitting the headstock bearing shells next week and then triples :smt001

Got to decide , drop frame on engine and bolt in or make rolling chassis and lift motor in :smt017

Gonna polish up the whole frame, including the head tube, or just keeping it polished to the weld points, Drew?

The two sections shown will get polished, the inserts are having something else done :smt003

Head tube and all the inner stuff will be Black along with some parts of the swinger.

You'll see why once it's a rolling chassis :smt001

Made a start on swinger now, it got the stiched mop 1st and that's removed more of the factory swirls.

No pic's yet - been running about daft most of day and taking pic's of this:

Today the lights arrived for my winter project once the bike has been up and running for a while (NB. Build one is to get it registered, taxed, insured and MOT'd).

Can't decide on making them flush with the centre of the nose cone like this:

ImageImageImage

or to make them flush with the outer edges like this:

ImageImageImage

So

This Or That
ImageImage

Some random shots
ImageImageImageImage

I like both , bugger :smt017

I'll get some high density Black foam and make damper rings for them so they are sealed into the sockets. I'm going to build a carriage inside to mount them on and make it possible to adjust them too.

Have to stress these are purely cosmetic - I do very little night time driving so both will be set on a low beam pattern.

The outer ring is White LED and they will come on when the bike fires up , the fish eye lights are 6000K 35W HID units and they'll run off the switchgear.

MM!

That's kinda why I like them - that "eye popping" experience :smt003

But sunk in looks more menacing :smt003

I keep switching them just now as i still have it set up in the living room - it's not helping :smt005

maybe set them even further back, space allowing, and the inner rim of the headlight hole painted black?
