Was doing my wheel bearings this weekend, one circlip came out fine - the other however ! firstly it snapped my circlip pliers - tried again and this time it snapped the pliers and itself !
theres about 3/4's of it left in their, and i could not get it out for love nor money.
tried drilling into it hoping it would snap, hardly made and indent
i can get a screwdriver in their, but it is just casuing teh clip to rotate around
any ideas - im stumped ????

I had the same issue sorting out the wheel bearings on my mates Varadero.
We got a small screwdriver and wedged it on the snapped side, and then got another screwdriver and levered the clip out. Took a fair bit of effort but we got there in the end.
As for drilling it, give it a go very slowly and try to get half the width drilled away then u should be able to bend it out with ease.
Peace out, good luck, use a condom

no joy - had to drill behind it, then lever it out through the small hole i had made.
then went to bang the bearing out, and it all came, apart from the outcasing, which is nor firmly lodged in their - am leaving it soaking in coke atm, to hopefully loosen it - again - any other ideas would be appreciated !!!!

Get someone to run a three equal spaced welds around the inside of the stuck outer race of the bearing, as the weld cools and contracts it will loosen the bearing race.
hope this helps Ben

get a dremel on the bugger and make 2 opposite cuts across the outer race then it will pop out, watch you don't damage the wheel too much tho' have you got your new bearings?
Don't forget people there is more to the zxr400 than this forum... check out www.zxrworld.co.uk also.

Re: Snapped Circlip - any ideas how to remove ???
just got it out ! one of the guys at work welded a bar to it for me to try and tap it out - the weld snapped.
so ended up dremeling it, then levering out with a screwdriver as much as possible, before having to re-weld a bar to the race and finally getting it out !!!!
got ot try and put it all back together now (after a bit of sanding to the interior to get rid of teh rough edges
any tips ?
have frozen the bearings, but they still seem very tight to get in - whats the best method of fitting ??? used a screw driver on teh way out, but that knackered the casing, so need something else i assume on teh way back in ???
