Got a K5 GSXR100 shock on the H1, had to move the bracket back a little, refitted with flat length of steel and two bolts! handles much better now, as a modern kwak does. VERY firm ride, love it.

Quick update, whilst going crazy with polishing wheels on the frame and swing arm, i noticed at some point in the bikes life the mountings on the swing arm for the rear hugger had snapped off and been Areldited back on, NNNIIIIIICCCCCEEEEEEE!!!!
So i thought i'd remove the swing arm so the owd chap can get busy sorting them out for me whilst he's at work on saturday, along with relocating the battery box mounting stay on the subframe and it'll make it alot easier to polish up aswell.
So not a massive update, but it's getting there slowly, very slowly!!

Haven't updated for a while, so here we go. Not done to much to be fair, removed the swingarm for abit of a polish and to have a new tube welded on, so i can fit swingarm bobbins (1 of them was missing??). Also had the subframe modded to clear the piggy preload on the new rear shock, also painted it black along with the rear shock linkage. The finish aint great as i have hand painted them, but it's good enough (idealy wanted everything powder coated, but with still having no job, i just couldn't afford it at the mo). I was hoping to the bike back together 2 weeks ago, but i've been having yet more problems with my knee. It's feeling abit better now, so i spent an hour or so bolting the thing back together this afternoon. Still got loads of work to do, but looks like i'm gona have to have a break from it for a while. I had an MRI scan on my knee last week to see what has been causing the problem, turns out i have the meniscular cartlidge in my right knee. The report showed a complex tear in the posterior horn (medial meniscus), which extends to the isthmus of the meniscus and also a horizontal tear in the anterior meniscus, so it needs shaving or removing. It would seem that when i was flung over the roof of the car in the accident, i must have landed with the top half of leg straight and the half below the knee must have been twisted at a funny angle, tearing the cartlidge. So with an up coming op (doc reckons it'll definately be done before christmas) and being told to take it easy, i'll prob just do the little jobs, so's not to agrevate it too much. Atleast i can start looking for a job then, not much point at the minute, i can bearly walk, let alone work on bloody cars!!
Cheers for reading

Taking shape :smt001

If your wanting to complete the bike sooner - set a deadline to work to, that way you'll prioritise what needs done now and what can wait.

Wishing you well on your Op , rest up for a bit but don't become a slacker :smt002

Made a small amount of progress, not much though. Have cleaned+polished the rear wheel and sorted a tail tidy/rear light out, not much but its all progress).
Bought a smoked LED rear light off ebay, used the tail tidy off the my old bike and a friend gave me some rear indicators (they aint the nicest looking, but they where free!!). So all in, sorting out the rear end has cost about £50ish (not including the single seat unit). Not overly happy with finish on the subframe, but it'll do for this year, i'l be doing a more indepth overhaul next winter, didnt want to take on too much first time round (and i cant realy afford at the minute).
Have started repairing the cracks in the nose cone and in the right hand side panel, but this is proving tricky (bloody plastic welds keep cracking, grrrr!!).
That about does it for now, i was hoping to have it painted before christmas, but i'm not sure thats gona happen now, but we'll see.
Cheers

Had the operation, seemed to go ok, surgeon reckons he's sorted the cartidge, but has said there is a small amount of damage to the knee cap, but says it should be ok. Have been wlking round fine, still limping, so far so good! Looks like the back isn't getting any progress till after christmas now though, but we'll see. Hope everybody else is ok, seems like theres some REAL nice projects on the go at the minute so i've got to pull me finger out!!

Glad to hear your doing fine. That sort of surgery can vary greatly depending on the skill of the surgeon.

Could you take a detailed pic of what needs to be modified to fit the GSXR shock?

Cheers fella. As soon as i'm more mobile i'll get some better pics of mods for rear shock. You need to move the battery support bar on subframe backwards as it won't clear the remote preload. I used the height adjuster off the ZXR shock (Suzuki one is bigger and won't go into frame) and then me dad made 2 top hat washers and a sleeve for the shock mountins as the Suzuki bolts are smaller. I'll get pics as soon as, but will prob be in the new year now to be honest. All seems good at the moment, but don't want to tempt fate and feck it up again!!
Cheers

Well, not done an update for A LONG TIME!! Haven't done a massive amount to be fair, been to busy trying to find work, which has proved a pain in the butt but my patience has paid off!! I start on monday, in a small garage a couple of miles away, woohoo!!
The only things ive done realy is remove the front forks to have the seals done (was gona do them meself, but mate at local Honda dealer did them for £20 including oil so i took the lazy option!!), i then cleaned/polished etc and refitted. Next job (when the bits turn up) is to fit the brakes (but still undecided what m/c to use, prob just keep standard for now), then move the thing out the garage and to its temporary new home (brothers buying a new bike and theres no room till his old one is sold) at which point i'll remove and service the carbs and carry out the stick coil mod. It wont be too far away after that, new end can, sort the plastics and a lick of paint should then see it on the road ('till next winter anyway, when i'll have no doubt found other things i want to do it!!) Haven't bothered with any pics, it's just not worth it for what little has been done since last time. Anybody got any recommendations for a quick action throttle? Was thinking of the Venhill universal fit thing? Any good?
Cheers

Jesus Christ!! It's been ages since i posted on this thread!! Ha Ha!!
Again, not a massive update, it's took me so long to back on track money wise and i've gone and spunked a shed load with Mori Man!! (thanx again dude!!)
The system and rearsets turned up this morning, so as soon as i was home, i bolted the system up. Was gona fit the rearsets but my stomach finally waved the white flag, so i had to bail and get some scran!
I'm hoping it should be ready for the road in the next month or so, but i'm bloody skint again, so we'll have to see how it goes!
Enjoy
Cheers
