I used to hate it when you take a bike in and they phone you back to tell you it's knackered and it'll cost oodles to sort out.

So I started buying new bikes. Lol.

Well, had a fone call from pete last night saying that the HG had blown on #2 and that we caught it in good time, there is no warping that is worthy of a head skim. a 0.005 on the bit between #1 and #2 so no need for a skim :D 40 quid saved.

the exhaust cam rod is way out of tolerance on the far end of the cog so i dropped the spare lump up there this morning for him to salvage parts from that.

took a couple of pix of my bike, felt like looking at my missus with her chest ripped open :(

In all its cost me 330 in total, with 250 of that being labour.

replace 1 exhaust shaft
gaskets
lump in
lump 2 put back together
Carbs balanced, valves and shims done

He also said i can use his workshop + tools to do other work to my bike for free :D

Picking the bike up 2moz, feelin a bit sketchy about it as i have to ride about 10/15 miles in the pigging sketchy icey roads lol.
Get home, bosh the fairings on and then ride a fair bit upto maghull for the MOT, i could have gone closer, but i have a small plate and i aint got time to order a new one :S

The head gasket was seeping between #1 and #2, need the valves doing too so popped upto Widnes to see pete up in OTC racing who builds outfit racers and has OCD when it comes to bikes and lumps lols.
For £330 he done the HG, shims and valves, replaced my inlet shaft, including al the gaskets and seals that needed replacing, new oil filter and oil and coolant.
The ZXR now runs like a dream. Im liking this "kick its head in over the summer and get it fixed during the winter" thing that might be going on lol.
The missus gave me a load of dyno money for chrimbo so ill be going back up there in Feb after i have replaced a carb rubber inlet.

Pete said that i can come up and use his workshop whenever i need to work on my bike, and use his tools too. how friggin cool is that?

The bike is running much sweeter than before i took it up there, highly rate this dude is you need work doing on your bike. He was recommended to me by my mate "Swiss Tony" cos his dad took his SP2 up there for similar work and bangs on about him all the time
