zxr project

There seems to be more and more members appearing that are racing the ZXR400 so i've created a special section just for you to show off results, discuss meets etc etc.

Nice tail section. :) Are those 05 ZX6r triples? If so they will add quite a bit of trail. The ZX6r forks/wheel will slide straight into a set of L model triples as well giving you the stock geometry. The 03/04 triples have less trail, the offset amount is between the L model triple and 05 triple's. R6 calipers? I've got the kawi calipers on mine.

Can you use the ZX6 wheel spacers as well with the stock triples?

Yes, use the 600 forks, wheel, and spacers, it slides right into the stock triples. The forks are longer and will stick out the top of the triples about 25mm or so. I don't know if the forks are any better, especially when they have been revalved for you, but the brakes are much much better. And fr me being in the U.S. I can get brake pads locally. EBC doesn't even list pads for the stock calipers here. The only pads I could get locally were Carbon Lorraine and that usually took a couple weeks. No I can use Vesrah's which I prefer as well and I can buy them at the track on a race weekend.

the bike in the thread being an H1 though, the "triples" are different to an L

the bottom one will need opening out by ~1mm iirc to accept the zx6 forks.

the stem is longer too, so they wont stick out the top as much as on an L

I cant recall how trail etc differs compared to an L, its probs in the manuals though

mr. flying weasel,how are u doin. :smt001
i used 05 zx10 forks, they are the same lenght as the zxr h ones, they have k teck internals,
so the offset on the tripples now leaves the forks 7mm closser to the frame,i guess the wheel base will be shorter, the rake is the same ,not sure bout the trail?
i used the zx10 lower and upper triples ,just the zxr stem, some engineering work there!
05 yamaha r1 calipers with brembo pads :smt001
the front wheel weighs just over half a kilo less than the origonal stock but my back wheel which is off a er 650,weighs 4 full kilos less the zxr rear wheel!and i can also put a 160 tyre on that,
check out my lowering links!they are less than half the weight of the cast iron ones.they have been machined from a single block of aluminium!
my tank and front mudguard have been sent away to get carbon fibre coppies made,
i was lucky eneough to get beet down pipes and rear sets,
i stuck the damper on the front for a change, its still a long way off being finished, but i think the hardest is done,

Did you model the H linkage for the upgraded pieces? I've been talking to a machinist friend about doing the same thing. Shave some weight and play with the ratio. I have an H2 link now and I like it much better than the L model linkage. Trail will increase with the new triples.

yip, they are the exact same dimensions as the stock ones,i put steel inserts where the bolts pass through ,to prevent wear,
i just want it to handle well before i do anything with the engine.
