Thanks for your help!!

Post by rockbob »

In my previous Topic i asked if the ZXR i was looking at was a genuine colour scheme, it seems it is so thank you.
I also have down loaded the buyers guide which has loads of tips ie head gasket check, cam chain and other various bits on the bike
Its a L Reg With 20717 miles up at £2395.00 is that good ???
if it needs a new cam chain how much does that normally cost to fit ???
i have already had a quick look at bike i went to look at a ZZR600 originally but the ZXR caught my eye it looks exceptionally clean and tidy.
Just a bit worried about head gasket and camchain.

Although the bike does look very tidy, at over 20k miles and being an L reg i would say that over £2,000 is too much money for it.

My bike has just cracked 20k miles, is a 1992, J plate i think (irish plates!) and i paid £1,300 for it, ober a £1,00 cheaper than that one.

I would say that at most £1,800 is a fair price for it. Others may disagree though.

In terms of the cam chain, i have not had a single problem with mine so have never changed it. My dad had to change his on his CBR and it was a very easy job, a quick in and out as it were. Again, the head gasket hasn't been a problem with mine either (fingers crossed, touch wood etc), but is probably similar to changing one on a car, cheap and easy, if caught early.

i'm with above, £2300 is a bit excessive i think, £1600 - 1800 maybe?
Don't forget people there is more to the zxr400 than this forum... check out www.zxrworld.co.uk also.

depends how clean it really is i'd say. mine is a P reg, but lives outside, so is currently rather dirty. If it's got all the good mods (all braided lines, a good hugger, crash bobbins, they all add up!) it might be worth a shade over £2k, but if it's bog standard, then unless you're after a collectors piece, push then towards £1800.
I do 700 miles a week in all weathers including snow, that's roughly 35,000 miles a year, and some weekend warrior biker has the nerve to get out of his Audi at work to tell me to I was riding far too fast in the wet (over taking at 50... fast eh?).

I paid £2300 for my '93 L3 with full Micron system, with 13k on the clock, and in perfect condition.

In 2002!

So I'd have to agree that ones a fair bit overpriced...

Actually, to put it into perspective a bit more I paid that much 2 years ago for my '99 ZX9R in perfect condition with a Leo Vince Moto GP exhaust!

Both from dealers, too.
