Have a little blast on the roads de restricted just so you know where the power kicks in instead of slipping out on track
Ride it like you stole it

use the slow laps to get your lines, nice and gentle and sweeping. Go gentle when pulling on the throttle. grab the brakes gently. brake sooner than you think.

In short, do this gently at first, and you'll go faster. Oh, and when you get past the slow guy in front, and start going faster, do remember you'll need to brake sooner. not that i've ever made that mistake... confuddled

who you going with? alot of places offer instruction. No Limits offer free 1-1 instruction, and you'd be amazed at how few people take them up on this. it's easy to get an instructor all to yourself for half the day, for FREE!

You might be better leaving your restrictors in and learning how to get the best out of your bike with just the power it has. Put it this way - I can still get about pretty quick using only top gear, and not using the brakes. it's all about judging your speed before the corner, and riding smoothly. Once you can do that, the rest is easy.
I do 700 miles a week in all weathers including snow, that's roughly 35,000 miles a year, and some weekend warrior biker has the nerve to get out of his Audi at work to tell me to I was riding far too fast in the wet (over taking at 50... fast eh?).

READ MY LIPS "ENJOY"

Seriously, you should make that your priority

Ok
Many folk will give you advise but here are a few tips from me

YOU
Be as relaxed as you can on the day, easier said than done I know
Take plenty of water and decent food
Listen at the brief, it is important
Dont be frightened to ask advice of the organisers/specialists there
Make sure you take your license
Take your time to learn the circuit, you may think you are quick on the but track riding is a who different ball game
Concentrate whats in front of you, never look behind
Breath properly
Dont grab the bars to tight, grip the tank with your legs instead
Be as smooth as you can with the throttle
Use the markers on the circuit, they are there for a reason

BIKE
Remove or tape up mirros, lights etc
Prior to the day check, oil, brake pads, chain, tyres, fasteners, you get the picture
Make sure you have suffient fuel
Get advice form the tyre guy on pressures to run on the day for your particular tyre

I'm sure many can add to the list

Dont forget it's your first trackday, not a raceday, dont worry if folk come past you, your there for the experiance and to learn and ENJOY

Have a great day

DONT PANIC! that's all the advice you need, treat it as a ride out on road's you know, ride within your normal limit's don't try to be an hero and REMEMBER you wanna go home in the same condition you arrived in.
Speed and laptime come with track knowledge and bike setup you ain't gonna be there on your first time, so sit back TAKE YOUR TIME AND LEARN. you'll have fun however fast you go.

Don't get caught up in chasing lap times, relax, have fun, and there WILL be people who are so much faster it's silly - so don't get the Red Mist and try chasing them!

Warming your tyres up properly is the most important bit, and make sure you've prepped the bike as well as you can.

You picked the best one for your first trackday - Oulton is by far the best track I've been to! It's awesome! :excited Read some circuit guides for handy tips especially for Oulton as a scary amount of the corners are blind (like tipping it into Island as you reach the service road on the right) and if you can grab an instuctor for free get one as early on as you can to show you the lines.

Oh, and get theeself to Ebay and at least get a cheapo MD80 cam for the day:

Who needs tyres when you've got knees!!

think most trackday organisers will be the same, they dont want carnage with newbies to bikes (sorry, no offence!) on track!

you could do the mick boddice race school at darley moor if you are desperate to get on track, as i think they are one school that can give that "certificate of competance" thing the acu want if you don't have a bike licence, but you are on their bike, i think, and its not as cheap as a trackday!
ameteurs practice and train unitl they can do it, professionals practice and train until they cannot fail at it..

you could try no limits, they might be able to help, but you'll still be stuck on 33bhp.
