Yeah, a real catch 22! Used to be other drivers stopped to help but now no one wants to be involved and shrug it off with " They'll have a mobile anyway"

chances are it'll break in the spill anyway lol
If you were desperate enough you could get someone to stop I think, the world isn't quite that cruel yet.

Bikers stop.
Especially when you're on a covert job faking a breakdown!
Oh yes, you can BET that within a minute some biker with the loudest -ing end can in the history of the world will pull up offering to help!

Why would you fake a breakdown?

@ RobB:
If you're out of the minimum term on your contract ring them up and tell them you want to end it. I did this in january cos I couldn't justify £240 a year line rental for the calls I make - i was just going to get a pay-as-you-go sim instead.
what i actually got was a whole year on a better tariff for £20 cos they were so desperate to keep my business. and i can still walk away from it next january and do what i intended to do this year.

My mobile phone is the very best thing I keep in my bike jacket. I switch it off at night, but it works as my alarm clock and puts itself back on again. I use it for camera mostly, and texting friends during work hours. He he.
I have had breakdowns in the middle of nowhere. A puncture/blowout on busy A road dual carriageway and 4 bikes passed me without stopping. I have also binned a bike into a ditch in the middle of nowhere and had no signal on my phone to call but could text for help. Also, I have been knocked off my bike and my mobile stopped the clutch lever from stabbing my in the ribs when I came off. Killed the phone though.
I feel safer knowing I have a phone with me.

Engine off.... park up opposite the targets house... remove a few fairing panels while scratching head and looking confused...
Great way to get in close to the target, especially if you're acting as trigger for the rest of the team to follow a specific car/person when they leave or return.
You can be there for hours without arousing suspicion, and if anyone does challenge you, all you have to do is say your mate is on his way with the spare part. a few mins faked fiddling once the job's over, and off you go!
Of course, one time I did this and then the bike really wouldn't bloody start!!! :smt013

Whats all this with faking breakdowns ??
You in the SAS or something like that, saying about targets and jobs....
Sounds a bit like an Andy McNabb book
Well my bike broke down because the carbs wernt set up correctly and the engine flooded, well i had 2 different bikers stop and the people from the house that i was outside offered to phone for help and they made me a cup of coffee,
Just had to wait till my bro came with a tool kit and we sorted the problem out,
People are quite considerate if your a biker i find,
More so than if your in a car and you have broken down.
I bet you just laugh at the broken down cars on the side of the road when you fly past on your bikes or drive past them.

Not SAS - SBS, but I get lost easily!
I'll stop for any bikes, even peds unless I REALLY have to be somewhere (and let's face it, even most workplaces won't care about you being 10 mins late as a one-off).
Cars, I don't stop for. Partly because there won't be a lot I can do for them (chances are tehy don't have a lid so I can't offer them a lift etc), and partly because... well, I just don't want to!
If I knew for sure that it was some beautiful woman in the car then I would stop any and every time, but the chances are by the time I see the driver I'm already past and gone.
Yeah, I know it's wrong! :smt097

Tall blondes instantly make me panic thinking it's my ex-ex-ex-ex - so that one wouldn't work!
