yeah i did, he's only posted the one for sale thread as it was his dads bike but im sure if he see's this he'll know what i mean. Its just a sticker with GB on it and another with e euro stars on thats all.

Well i leave it till the needle reaches the first white line on the markers, or, till its in the first box. Reason for warming up is that all the oil will drain to the bottom of the engine overnight and when you start it up the oil wont have circulated round the engine in the first few seconds, which increases wear, i think oil lubricates better if its upto temperature too.

ooops, best leave it for 5-10 minutes before i go out on it then.

It takes as long as 20 seconds for oil to reach the head galley from the sump in a cold start scenario.

One of the reasons I use 0w40 oil most of the year round here in the UK ..

Additionally, you don't need to idle for more than 2-3 mins before moving off.

It is better to let the engine come up to temp on the move rather than idling.

The trick is to run the machine on choke for 2-3 mins at 1800-2000 rpm. As the engine comes online, the revs will rise on the choke, keep dropping it to 2000 or just under until after a few mins you can close the choke, blip the throttle once or twice then ride off.

Don't labour the engine or peak revs over 6000 for 10 mins or so.

On synthetic oil, my engines never get out of the min tmp range. Usually the needle stays rooted to the bottom of the gague .. except in 25 degree heat or more.

Does your needle travel on semi synth then?

Your bike sounds sweet as a nut btw. Idles perfectly, picked up from cold really quickly and looks better in the plastic than it does in the pics.

Ive always thought another reason to warm up is for most of the components to expand, and for the clearances to settle. But as Gubbs said a few minutes is fine, just dont go thrashing it and wait for it to get to operating temp. Personally i try not to use the choke, perhaps a sign its runnin slightly rich as the 7R very rarely needs it.
