having had 2 cases of HGF with my mg rover! i know from experience that they only need to be skimmed if they have warped, due to using the engine when it overheats.

a very crude way to check if the head is warped is to use a metal rule and a torch, lay it across the head and if u can see any light under rule then the head is warped and needs skimming
