its the pick up coil....
take the right fairing off,
mines a h1 so there is 2 wires into the bottom of the engine casing, infront of the clutch,
this is the pick up,
on the h1, you can take the small cover off and your looking at it
have a look at th manuals, hope thishelps, if not i will photo mine for ya

Mines the H1 too, ill have a look and see if that needs replacing.

yeah doesnt look too bad. i know i am a little late in the reply, but check all the cables for cracks.
I have found that on my crank case, I have got a stronge smell of fuel comming out, so i think i need to service my carbs

part 21066 the thing at the bottom looks like a heat shrink, on the L models its pretty much in front of the battery attached to the subframe so may be the same position on the H's

Puty me brand new battery on yesturday and its dead already. Dont hold charge at all and i cant go anywhere once it gets dark as the lights kill it. It just cut out on me on the roadabout little while ago. Pissing thing is getting right up my ****in snout

theres a couple on ebay, do L model ones fit the H?

they go on ebay for about a tenner .. i just missed one for £4 ! cos i forgot the auction was ending and was in the garage ! DOH !

i thought the one on em's bike had gone but i topped the battery up, dried all the connections to the reg/rec off, and its been fine ..

thats what was happening to mine, i've got my old L model one which is no good anyway if you pm your address you can see if it fits then you may have more chance of getting an L model one.

they are all the same mate , H and L .. zx6 is the same too..
