dunno if there's something wrong with me but the NSR's just dont appeal in the same way ...

at heart im a yamaha fan having cut my teeth on a ty175 trials bike as a kid and followed it up with a full power tzr125 and tzr250-1kt.. cept i've ended up with an unhealthy kawasaki obsession .. to the point where I could be swayed by a KR1-S but it'd have to be cheap or mint.

that marlboro 3xv is worryingly cheap, (although it could be a bargain) and they need about a grand spending on them to make them go properly...

dated as hell now, pretty dated when i bought one in '98, but trick as f*** in its day. (admittedly, that was like 1986 .. lol)

personally if i was gonna buy an old skool 250 it would b the nsr

if i wanted a slightly newer 250, but was on a budget/wanted goodish reliability i would get one of these...

The rs and RGV both use the Suzuki engine so are as reliable as each other.

yeah i knew the rgv and rs used the same shi t-zuki engine but i also heard that aprilia tweak it their end a bit?

maybe thats what the salemen are told to tell you

the RGV engine is lovely, its got a few problems (worst being it drops the PV blade into the barel..) but apart from that its sweat. Aprilia as far as im aware did a some small changes to the heads and the ignition, nothing major.

If i had the money id love to track down a RGV VJ23 sp. Suzuki never gave aprilia this engine, it had all the reliablity problems sorted and electric start. They also changed the sytleing and it looked THE NUTS imo.



Just such a shame there near on impossible to get hold of, even more so at a realistic price.

paintwork is nice, that seat hump aint too pretty tho.

Problem is with these highly strung rare as rocking 250 bikes, they're just too nice to take out on the road. I've got a mate who has an RS250 that he uses every day, dunno how he does it.

The RS isnt that rare, not common i agree. I couldnt use one everyday for the MPG, cost of oil and the maintence. Maybe if i was loaded...

Personaly i've alway thought that the 250s are wasted on the road, people that never take them to the track will never properly understand how good they are.

unless u ride a scooter or a sensible 125, 2smokes are not practical road bikes. they were made for the track

lol, i used my tzr250 every day for 9 months, and then despatched on it for another 6 months ....

ok, so it rattled, looked like toad and then blew up .. was fun though

5k is around about the right price for them, im not going to pay that much for it, would rather a Honda RS250, TZ250 ect.

i bet after owning a tuned 2st for a few yrs you can do top end rebuilds with your eyes closed!

i remember my aprilia rs125, forever breakin that was. once the oil feed line cocked up and promptly seized the engine as i was accelerating thru a bend!

since then i always cover the clutch lever with a finer or two

cant beat the smell of a smoker though

bearing in mind the top end only consists of a couple of parts (bizarre powervalves aside), I bet I could do a top end rebuild with my eyes closed, and I've never had a 2T bike.
