I know a few people who have done trackdays and have said go straight for the inter group, tends to be a lot safer (aperently).

my mate went on 1 not so long back, there were 3 groups he went in the middle group, i didnt go because of funds but i do fancy doing 1 soon, the only worry i had was ppl getting in my way an that.

That's not exactly what I said.

I'd be stupid to take that risk of using my own bike (and kit) in my situatuion, and that's that.

The Ron Haslam school makes great sense.

That applies to any non-essential journey on the road as well though. Does that mean you'd be stupid to go out for a fun ride on a Sunday because if you crashed you wouldn't be able to get to work on monday? Same logic except going out on the roads has way more hazards, some of which are completely beyond your control. Trackdays are only dangerous if you make them dangerous.

Ultimately, do what you like mate . Save up for the Ron Haslam school. It sounds like fun. But it's a very expensive way of getting your first go on track. I might go when I stop getting any better by myself just doing trackdays.

california superbike school is supposed to be far better for the money .. some mates did it last year, .. ok they used their own bikes but hiring is an option i believe ..

If I didn't think I'd be pushing the limits of either the bike or myself towards the end of the day, I wouldn't bother doing a trackday in the first place!

The only reason I want to do one is to see how fast I can lap a circuit without falling off. Anything else I can do on the road.

I wanted to do the california superbike school, but it was abit more expensive. Will go if funds allow next year, now i no what to expect.
