if you do the donkey work ill help. i done it a few times now. fiddly job,but any half competent mech can do it if you go slow.

new chain and tnsioner etc is costing me whatever the parts are + 2/3 hours labout on monday. where'd you get £300 from!? haha I was quoted that much for changing the piston rings!! And for that price you could get a new engine!?

me thinks u r deluded
yes a 2nd hand engine you know sod all about could cost u that. is it worth the risk ? 2-3hrs labour is the minimum. depends on other factors.and i doubt u were quoted that as new rings mean a new base and head gasket too as well as the price of the rings.
