when you actually work out what the grades mean, how the hell are you gonna choose from all them patterns??

i dont want a fucking pattern, on the label you got a grading theres 800 1000 1200, your all a bunch of miserable f***ers, noone can be arsed to tell me, or just say the truth you dont know, ffs your all taken this thread to far, lets just leave at you dont know how to tell the thickness of plain backing paper, go read my first post its in there !

i'd go for the 1200 mate its about the same thickness of your sense of humour

is that 800 thick 1000 thicker or 1200 thickest

i'd say 1200 is thinnest mate hence you have no SOH

thicker it is the more expensive it is, but covers the holes more

i wouldent use the thicker stuff in your house as you'll lose most of your living space

how do you know if i live in a small house or big house ?, i bought a 3 bedroom house with a garage and it seems roomy enough, and yes i need the thicker backing paper to help cover the blemishes im already filling and sanding out, i just want a layer of backing paper to cover the smallest imperfections as it is a 30 year old house !

then your best bet is go for heavily embossed paper mate, it comes with lining paper built in so when you come to strip off next time (and i mean the paper) it leaves the lining paper on the wall, thats the theory but it never works.

I always like advise that ends in, "thats the theory but it never works"

yes i have brought samples home from B and Q, and they cover almost any imperfection on the wall, real nice aswell, except the rolls ive looked at are like over a tenner a roll, in my opinion its a far cheaper option getting a layer of backing paper down, then what im gonna do is paint it white a few times then put up the colour i want, i did this in the kitchen and it came out real nice, but that was somat like 1000 grade paper, and like i say on further inspection in B and Q i have noticed theres different thickness's however there is no guide to tell you which way the thickness goes, i guess best bet is to just open a couple of rolls of backing paper at the end, and just have feel / inspection myself, which is gonna piss me off as, i dont know if it happens with you, but i spend more time looking in diy shops than diy itself, i'll get to B and Q and like last time buy myself somat like a soldering kit, and generally look around all the boys toys power tools etc,

oh and then theres looking at what we really went in there for, B and Q is the only shop i can piss the misses off by actually spending more time shopping than her in there, + 1 for the guys,

you could always get a plasterer in to skim your walls?

nah i could prolly do that myself to certain extent infact ive been doing small patchwork jobs like that, nah the walls are failing straight its just chipped in a few places, as you probably know there concrete floors and walls the houses in my area, solid build houses , like i say it worked a treat in the kitchen and im gonna attempt it through the lower landing and upper landing,

so does it make any difference the grade of paper you use if you're gonna paint it afterwards or do you check the thickness of your paint as its applied?

you know the answer anyway, if you got a big imperfection it will carry on through, i found this out in a couple of places, so like i say i am filling and skimming the walls im gonna stick some paper up, maybe the few coats of paint will help towards covering blemishes, i hope it does any extra help i dont mind, anyways looking forward to the weekend, i got the top half of the house done, now im pushing to get the lower part of the house done, then Masters you can show me where the best tropical fish places are, but thats another topic, infact thats tomorrow's hot topic lol
