First of all 'Hello biggrin'

Im new to this forum but certainly not new to the old zxr400!!

I race in Bemsee on a TZR250 at the mo but have recently got my self a zxr400 'H' race bike :excited

The Maxton rear shock is F***ed...

i am looking at a few on ebay and also a new Nitron race shock but i need your expert help!
Will any made for zxr400 fit the 'H' model bike or do i need to buy one made ONLY for the 'H' model??

Hope you all could help

Chris smiler

Hello and welcome to the forum.

I dont think your answer is as staraight forward as a yes or no.

I know the linkages have different rates, but i believe they can be swapped about anyway. Others know far more about this than i do, but i know that to be true.

What exactly is wrong with your Maxton ?

Maxton shocks are completely rebuildable and any part can be replaced/renewed....................I cant imagine how a shock would be so badly damaged as to be beyond repair

Thanks for your promt reply gents (i hope you both are gents :pmsl)

The shock is an older Maxton, i know it can be serviced back to health but for not much more money i can grab my self a new decent one!

I went on Nitron website which have been recomended they have a different shock for L and H models??

If i did grab a shock that didnt fit the H model are the fixings easy to come by to make them all fit?

Again thanks for your fast answer biggrin

It the shock length and the internals that you need to get right.................the actual fitting of it would be the easy bit........................

I reckon a full service for your Maxton will be cheaper than any decent now shock....................however if you insist on a new one I'll consider buying your Maxton..........at the right prce

Well it was £105+vat to get it serviced!

Think i might just get that sorted then over the winter, i have one more race of which i will run on a standard shock!

Thanks for your info though guys!
