hi all,

well after spending 6 glorious months camping up and down the goldcoast in oz, i am back to the mighty blighty, and its good to be home.

yes, i miss the cold beer, hot women and weather, but this is where its at isnt it? the good ol UK!

so, after reading many biker mags on the beach sunbaking, i thought about a streetfighter project, or buying a crash damaged 916 and getting it good, then i thought, well i have a great bike, why not make it greater?

i saw another chaps zx on here, with polished frame and a few trick bits, so i was hoping to do the same, invest in some dymag wheels, dyno it all up, and get a nice trick paintjob, but i really, REALLY fancy the thoought of having a zx with a single sidedswing, my q is though?

can it be done?

what do you think, and any ideas on cost would be great, seen a few on ebay going, so may buy and save for the winter conversion if its duable, im just no engineer....my skills lie with riding hard, drinking fast, and comming to soon ha ha!

cheers

i looked at it ages ago, i got hold of the vfr400 swinger, i believe its easier to do with a vfr750 swinger and you have better choices of tyres, also if you can afford it go for a triumph single sider.Forget the ducati one cos the suspension setup is completely different.

unusual in the way that most bikers i see at meets all have the same brand new, fresh outta the crate gixer thous, gixer 6's, kwak 6;s etc....

the 400 has a cult following and most end up, imho, as track bikes, or learner bikes, which is what mine was really, a big step from a yam dt125.

i dont see half as many zxr400's on the road, so in my book, thats unusual in comparison, so to give it a wee makeover, would make it more unusual!

thats the theory.
hope my pockets are deep according to my spanner monkey!

also my bike makes that beeping noise like garbage vans and hgv's when you put it in reverse, you know the beep-beep-beep beep-beep-beep, annoying but it saves lifes!

When you say use a triumph single sider, which model? And what would be needed to put a triumph swingarm on? New spacers?
