Is there anywhere that does insurance for a day? Ive just bought a bike and my friend is willing to ride it back to mine for me as i havent passed my test yet but the bike needs to be insured for her to be able to.

Can anyone help me, i know you can get car insurance for a day etc but cant seem to find anyone that will insure her on a bike for the day.

Please help as we want to be picking it up on saturday

Doesn't your friend have 'can ride other bikes with permission' on her insurance?

What about hiring a van for the day? i hired a van last week, 43 quid for 24 hours plus ya fuel from Enterprise Van Rental, thats gotta be cheaper/easier than insurance for a day? You'll need a transit tho.

she has but i arent sure if its like cars where the bike we're picking up has to be insured by someone else to be able to ride it.

other idea sounds good but i would be a bit hesistant to do that

rob , most van companies will oly let you do 200 miles and its 200 there and 200 back. just thought this might be a cheaper option as i know of a site that can insure you on a car for the day for like £15 quid

check with their insurance company mate cos not all are the same, churchill allow you to drive other peoples cars even if its not insured by the owner.

Or just ride it anyway an take the risk. if you get caught just act like you didnt know it had to be insured by the owner 2.

well she phoned her insurance and they said she could ride any other bike on her insurance so well just see what happens.

Mine was with unlimited mileage mate, went from Gillingham to Hatfield, and back again cos i forgot the keys to my house, then to ipswich and then home, that was way over 400 miles. But like I say it was unlimited mileage

You can also pay an extra tenner or so to bring the excess from 750 quid down to 250 should the worst happen which is what we did, 53 quid all in + 40 quid in diesel (the fuel not the member here )

Well enjoy it, i tell ya its fantastic and the ZXR for a first bike is awsom, teaches you alot and prepares you for the upgrade to bigger bikes. or you might like it so much you will keep it

just to let people know, if you take out a policy with e bike, then cancel it upto a week later you get a full refund

well i opted for a 400 coz im not really wanting to go super fast one one. Ive been a car enthusiat for ages but always wanted a bike since my mate started taking me out on his corona colourd gixer 400. Most people start on things like 400's wanting to go up to bigger bikes later but my friends bike does 120 or so and thats plenty fast enough for me.

The accelration is far quicker than my red top engined cavalier and im happy with the speed that has so i may not want to go to a 600 later. Only thing about the 400's is that my friend and the mrs says i look a little to big for it, but hope a jackup kit might sort that?

also can you get a digital clock for these zxrs that will also tell me what gear im in?

havent even got it yet and thought id leave it alone but i have all these ideas for it now as i want it to look trick.

Yeah im quite happy with a 400,only reason ive gotten a 7R is the want to naturally progress i suppose, plus its just alot less work on the motorway.

well good news. On the off-chance that it might be chucking it down with rain on saturday, i went to my old boss to see how much hire van would be.

He then called someone else who he does business and that company are going to southampton on tuesday and will bring the bike and parts back to me tuesday evening all for £75 so not a bad option really.

Dead chuffed now.

Its not that bad on the motorway surely? I find I get blown around less by cross winds than on the ZZR11000 ..

And cruising at 85 mph is 8, 000 rpm which the bike seems very comortable at and does 60 mpg! I did 115 miles on £9 of petrol last week including 38 miles of twisties. I'm sure that can't possibly be right, but I have double and tripple checked it.

Well, its hard work keeping up with ya mates on blades, bandit 12's and gixxer thou's

That aside tho, i like to ride pretty damn quick on the motorway, and I think its thrashing the 400 a bit too much, i guess i have too much mechanical sympathy.
