ZXR400 H Forks - problem - help please

Can anyone offer advice on the following ?

I have fitted a set of ZXR400 H model forks after fully refubishing them.
with the forks fitted with identical height of fork above the top yoke and the fork legs hanging i find that the front wheel spindle does not line up exactly from right leg to left leg and to allow the spindle to screw into the left leg insert i have to lift the bottom of the left leg by about 5mm ?
Is this normal that there is some misalignment ?

Should i just have the left leg under slight tension when i fit the spindle then refit the mudguard assembly although if i then remove the wheel spindle there will be a twist on the mudguard as the left leg drops.
I could have the left leg through the yokes slightly more than the right leg but surely this isnt right ?

Has anyone experienced this before ?

regards

definately not right, did you refurbish them yourself? Possibly you made a mistake somewhere?

i had the same problem with some L forks, mu guess was that they/one of them had been rebuilt whilst the other hadn't or something.. sold em to a breaker in the end so never worked it out.. sorry. def not right though, should all line up sweet.
