hey people.
got a new one that i want to rattle your brains with.
recentally i have been having problems with the netural gear as in the sense when i stop and try to put it in netural it wont do it. it would stick in first gear. pain !

now i've thought of a few problems but eliminated them soon after too.

too heavier oil for the cold weather - well no because it was fine last winter (changed oil during the year so not old oil)

clutch plates worn / dirty oil - well not quite elimintated this one but gears work fine.

clutch springs - its possible but a bit of a pain to eliminate.

gear selcetor - not looked at this on but could be

and finally ...

shift rod etc dirty - again nut could be loose but works fine other then netural.

now ive loked on the forum and found nothing so i thought id pick your brains before i have to dismantle the clutch which i dont want to do if i can help it. could be as simple as gear selctor needs a clean but hey ..

any one got any other idea's then these would be most apreciated. :smt017
thanks in advance.

This has cropped up a few times before, so the posts are out there. But i seem to recall there is a spring and bearing in the selector drum that allows you to go into neutral when the bike is stationary, this has been known to get stuck and can cause problems with selection.

It could be as simple as the clutch dragging slightly tho, so check the play in the clutch cable to eliminate that one.

i would suggest adjusting the gear linkage rod otherwise could be a worn gear selector fork which is a gearbox strip down.

tight chain can affect neutral selection too. Dont quite understand why.
