Finally bought a zxr. Well agreed to it at least. Off ebay so going to pick it up the weekend hopefully, in my mate's bosses van.

x reg 2000
6700 miles
taxed and mot'd
Just been serviced
2 new tyres.

I could have just bid on it and potentially paid £1900 had nobody else bid, but been messing around and missed out on auctions at the last minute. Still think £2100 is a fair price considering the mileage on condition.

So it shouldn't need much doing on it. Seen pics of swingarm area and it looks unused no dirt or marks atall.

The pics of up close aren't on the advert.

Only thing I will get for it is heated grips and an alarm. Possibly brakes, but I figure i'm not a big lad would imagine the stock brakes will be fine. Am I right in thinking the calipers are the same as a zzr 600? My mate has one and put gsxr1000 calipers on his and improved it no end. I think they are tockyo or something like that.

Nice looking bike! Looks very smart! :smt003

ZZR calipers also fit but you need the master cylinder too. Tokico is the make :smt002

Got the van sorted for Saturday, which was stressing me out. Feel like a kid waiting for xmas day!

The insurance for my zzr runs out 8th of Dec I think so will just get it swapped over to the zxr. Then get some quotes for other companies before renewal time. Be handy if I can get a policy that will cover my third party on the zzr so can ride that to test it when i've done work on it etc.

I need to do a bit of work on the zzr before I sell/mot it. I.E replace swingarm and fork seals mainly. My question is MOT and Tax run out Dec some time. Say it's March/April when it's ready to mot, can I just mot it then? even though it's lapsed. Could I ride it to the mot centre as I wouldn't be taxed and no MOT. Oh and would be SORN'ing it too. At least when I come to sell it it would have 12 months tax and mot.

Back to the zxr....

It has no alarm/immboliser. What can you reccomend? Do you have to get it fitted proffesionally?

Heated grips, I have these on the zzr. I intend to get them on the zxr too, can't be doing with winter gloves, dont' get the feel from the controls.

Also going to get some crash bungs, seems some on ebay LOS one's I think they were, frame and forks. I've dropped the zzr a few times like off the stand, centre stand mainly. Don't want to be scratching my new baby!

think you are ok to ride the bike to a pre-booked mot at your NEAREST mot station if it has no MOT or TAX, you will need to check out with your mot station if they cover you on their insurance cos as it has no mot or tax your insurance is void.E-bike i think do 1 day insurance for about a tenner but not sure if it covers you in this situation.

i got an acumen cat 1 great alarm, for 250 quid it aint cheap thoe but its piece of mind. one thing i will say if your parking it in the garage and you aint gona leave it anywhere for long periods i would save on the alarm as they drain the battery fast if you dont use it for a week. maybe invest in an optimate or something. :smt003

Jigga - I take my hat off to you not just for buying a ZXR400, but for your use of Ebay.

Every other Ebay user is a -ing idiot, because when they want you to end an auction early, they will email you and offer you LESS money than it's already on there for!

I mean, who the fk is gonna do that when most bids come in the last few hours?

What sort of monkey-brained rub-tugger can't understand that to end an auction early you have to offer them a bit MORE than the current price??? :smt013 :smt013 :smt013

Sorry - but that just makes steam come out of my japs-eye.

Anyway - hope you've bought a good 'un and enjoy it as much as I did! :smt003
