Wheels..???

Post by z1100r »

Hi guys,
I've been trying to find out which wheels from other models fit a ZXR400L. I've had trouble getting a front wheel for some reason..apparently they are hard to find. Rear wheels seem to be coming out of peoples earholes....but no fronts. Anyway, a ZX6R F1,F2,F3 seems to be the same front wheel, well it has the same code as the wheel in my bike, so I have bought one of those...soon find out. For a rear wheel I went for a 5.5" ZX6R j1,j2 636 A1P. This wheel has an identical 4 prong sprocket carrier, takes the std 400 disc, and with the dust seal and spacer removed fits straight in with the stdcaliper hanger. Oh yeah I swapped the bearings to use std 400 spindle, and made a new centre spacer.

What Wheels have others used....for 5.5" rear...and is there another equivalent front...?

i was going to use the wheels off a ducati 750ss.. dont know the rim sizes, but they use the same size tyres as a zxr400 and weigh slightly less than f*** all as well as being drilled for brembo discs :) cant promise anyone it'll work, but i remember seriously considering it when i had the duke.. but sold it before i got round to trying

Thanks Rene....but I think I'm sorted now. The ZX6 F1/f2/f3 wheel is identical and is straight...the 636 A1P wheel is as new and straight....My original 400 wheels are as buckled as f*ck...in fact I'm beginning to think I bought the wrong rolling chassis.....not much on it is any good. The brakes are stuffed....calipers seized and warped discs. Loads of stripped threads...bent wheels...bent clip on...and posibly a bent swing arm.... :smt017

Anyway I was thinkingh of these....hmmmmmm

hy,my bike has a zx636 1999' rear wheel, with original disk, and sprocket.I have just changed the bearings, had to remove the sealant from the right side(9mm)and than the original brake adapter is good.
so it was very easy to fit this wheel!!!!
