Just a thought really, angry mike getting an 05 6R for £3300, Dal sold his for just over 2K but wa a few years older. Is it me or are newer bikes cheaper?
I know they are second hand and all, but are they depreciating so quickly that you can pick up a fast bike for so little cash? Can you blame it on the manufacturers revising thier bikes too often?
Your thoughts.

I think the 6r's where cheap to begin with...but i agree you can get a beast machine for not much money.
other bikes tho, r1's, the gixxers(1000, and last two gen 600/750),ducatis,etc...seem to hold there value.
Tbh, the bloody 400s are well expensive in moderation! especially when u compare a race machine, 3+ k for a real good zxr, that same price would get you a good powerbike or a formular 600.....like them zxr sp up on the bay at the mo, they will no doubt go for 2k+ each, then need a good 1000 spent to get em in to race shape....and yes i want them bad!
back on subject tho!, ive seen a few b1h (my fav) for very, very little money..

problem with things like flag ship 600's are there's only a certain type of person who's going to buy them. Generaly if your that kind of person then you want the "best of the best" so have to go new. Then you've got everyone else who wont pay silly money for the best stuff so second hand stuff isnt worth anything, untill it gets to the point were everyone can afford it (1-3k) thus you never really see anything slip below the £1,000 mark.
Makes it bloody anoying when l*oking for a cheap hack as you might as well pay abit more and get somthing like a 03 gixxer for 2.5k
edit why dos lo*k put this in look

they do seem to be getting cheaper.. every time i stick my head out of the "400 bubble"(tm) im quite scared and shocked by what i could be getting for my money.. but i think that part of it is just that to us 400 riders anything post 95 seems new .. when in actual fact those dirt cheap '99/2000 R6's etc are 7 or 8 years old and considered old tat by the rest of the world .. hence they're cheap.

^^^
forgot to mention that one, a 5 year old bike to me with 8,000 miles still seems new but to a 'best of the best' kind of person thats very very old. Silly really as we still show them up on 15 year old 400cc bikes

newest bike ive ever owned was my L4 .. thats 1994 .. thats 13 years ago ffs .. lol.. Em's ZX4 is nearly 20 !
things is, new bikes are cheap .. 6/7k .. thats nothing,.. (TV's cost upward of a grand these days ffs and i got a quote from a kitchen fitter at over twice that !.. ) and depreciate they must.. or everyone would buy new..

they not cheap tho when you think you can get a car for around 7k tho! (talking about sheer amount of meterial used).
Guess the dealers have to make money tho. Im quite happy that bikes are going cheaper as long as when i sell mine i get back what i brought it for

i think its just this winter to be honest cos of the pants summer we have had, ppl are having to sell cheap. but honestly folks if you aint had the chance to ride a modern bike DO IT! my 600 is lighter than my 4 an its awsome so comin off a 15 yr old bike onto a new one was hugely better

Ive ridden my mates 05 R1, thing i noticed the most was the brakes, they were sharper than a cut throat razor! Otherwise it just felt weird with the riding position. Embarassed to say i didnt open it right up but it wasnt my bike!

im not talking about what the bikes are capable of as the 9/10 the newer bike is going to be better at everything. But also 9/10 the rider of the newer bikes is going to be

. Will be plenty fast enouth in a line but once a bend comes up they cack them selfs.
