in my ongoing efforts to find a solution for my 7r's spongy 6pots, i have decided to plumb for a brembo 19x20 radial master cylinder

have read loadsa reports online and all the racers runnin 6pots seem to use this massive piston cylinder!

just gotta get myself a banjo brake switch and get on bike

it wont 100% sort the problem gem it just helps mask it. Trust me i've tried the ONLY ONLY ONLY way your going to sort it properly is ditching the crap calipers.

You've gotta love billet calipers!!

if you make up a bracket you could fit the gixxer1000 calipers that are close to harris brakes in performace (us mortal riders wouldnt notice the diffrence). Or you could make up a bracket and fit Radial calipers.

Personaly i recon the Nissin calipers on the MV F4 will bolt strate on but i've never researched it. You've got loads of options but just chaging the MC isnt going to sort it.

well the theory behind the mc upgrade is the larger piston will move more fluid with less pull of the lever, this is why so many ppl do it

they say the 19x18 is much better than stock 16/18 and offers good feel and shorter lever pull, but the 19x20 is what a lot of 6pot users have, quite a hard lever to pull but very short lever travel, kinda like an on/off switch but thats how i like my brakes

so im goin down that route,

aint gettin ride of the 6pots, they look the nuts, fantastic braking power just to much lever travel

well you'll soon find out the same as i did. The problem is 1 to do with to much fluid but mainly down to poor design of the calipers/pads.

I also have a big problem with brake fade on mine when holding a fast pace.

well even if its just a slight improvement its better than current, and the brembo lever looks the nuts!

The PT master cylinder looks better in my opinion and is only £150, plus its billet rather than cast. A lot cheaper to try something.

the brembo has just cost me £130

if it offers no improvement then im sure someone will take it off my hands

theres only one manufacturer to go for when looking at aftermerket levers and calipers and that ISR... oooooh /orgasm

If it is Tokico six pot's then they have a lazy piston effectively making them 4 pots and not the very best at that.

Fitting my radial 19mm Nissin certainly helped big time but they are still no where as good as true 6 pot callipers (ie, 6 pads).

Nissin 6 pots are better designed and the trailing piston applies the same pressure as the leading but the middle is a bit redundant in the struggle between the two.

If you have 90mm spacing (which I think it is) then GSX-R Nissin 4 pots with 34/30 pistons are what you want - they are as near as damn the same as Brembo's.

You get them on fleabay for buttons - don't be tempted with the newer ones look for them off a 93-97 model (I Think) , they look like this:
