Hello ppl, this is my first post ever so a big hello to every1 on the forum, I am currently race preparing my bike ie building the bike from scratch i have managed to get a zxr400 to do the Ediasia formula 400 next season.. I have no mechanical knowledge about the bike but i am thinking of puttin a k&n airfilter, full system exhaust and tune the engine. But, have no idea on how much i need to be spending to get the engine tuned could anyone give me a rough estimate on doing this.. cheers guys .....btw any1 looking to sell a fullsystem exhaust preferablly micron.cheers

I stopped counting at £6k when building my spare bike from scratch from spares and/or second hand parts.
Sell it, and buy a ready prepared bike, that's if you want a top spec race winning bike

hello mate.
Like Ballsout said, sell your bike and buy something along the lines of this

It may sound expensive, but when you add up what it would cost to get a standard bike to that spec...
You may get a good deal on that one too, as its been up for sale for a while now, and if im not mistakin, he did very well on that bike

Definitely buy a already set up race bike but you never know what your buying. I bought pretty good bike last season and had the engine refreshed for this year so I knew exactly I had under me. It is also good to have the forks and shock rebuilt as the suspension is the most important element in racing. As a guide it cost around £1,500 to have a full engine rebuild which included one SP cam and a set of con rods (as the engine had the earlier and weaker ones). So on top of the bike cost you may be looking at another £2k to have the bike in a known good state.
Of course you could always just ride it and see where that gets you! It may or may not work out. I figured the investment in having a known good, reliable setup which is unlikely to blow up or go wrong during a race weekend so it was worth the expense.

I've also got a semi-tuned engine. It's complete, new gaskets, base gasket removed, 0.5mm oversize, running total loss but starter retained.
Just needs head skimmed and polished and a set of SP/Kent cams to complete race prep as has standard head and cams in just now. Open to offers.
Also got a full Micron system
