IIRC it goes to positive via a 100ohm 1watt in line resistor. If you havent put the resistor in the grey wire then no sparks

Hi Dave,

Can you tell me why the need for the resistor..?
I have a zxr750, made up a race loom and no spark either...I wonder does it need a resistor aswell...?

Not sure if the 750 needs it but possibly. As I understand it the resistor overcomes the inbuilt anti-hot wiring device in the ignition key switch which drops the ignition voltage to the CDI from 12 to 9V

Sorry - it doesnt overcome it - it replaces it - as obvously with the key switch out of the system (as per a race loom) it is as though the bike has been "hot wired"
