I think its time the ZXR finally got a new cam chain and head gasket......i have been having a few problems with fueling it was over fueling in the 3rd or 4th carb i adjusted the carbs and was fine for a while but just started doing the same thing again! The cam chain is in great need of being replaced its making a right old racket now. Does anyone know roughly how much this is going to cost me?

You can change the cam chain withour touching the head gasket (if it's not gone don't fix it)
I'd never use a pattern cam chain a genuine one from Cradley is about £20
If your putting a new cam chain in I'd also replace the tensioner guides front and rear................and carefully inspect the tensioner itself make sure it's working properly a new one is about £60 if memory serves me right You can still buy the older style tensioners for less.
All available from Cradley usually next day delivery.
If you are going to pay a mechinic to do it for you you can expect to pay £30 an hour if not more.

How long does it useually take? My carbs would need balancing as where i have adjusted them. I think the fueling is also down to the cam chain

With an engine sitting on the bench I could change the cam chain in an hour or so depends on how much other work I'd do at the same time.

A noisy cam chain has NO influence on fueling

I'm not sure about the head gasket as sometimes the oil is abit milky in the window but then clears up after a ride....the coolant is also brown and the bike seems to got hot quite easily when ticking over that is never used to do befor
