My Bike: tzxr 400

Which zxr 400 engine

Hi new to this forum so apologies if this has been covered before or is in the wrong place I have a zxr400 engine that's been setting the shed for years I believe it's an l model but not sure what year or whether it is actually l model or not how can I tell thanks Adam

Which side of the bike does the coolant exit the bike towards?

If it points to the left (away from the clutch) then it's a H, if it points to the right then it's an L

Hi just had a look. Do you mean where it comes out the barrels? If so it goes left into a rubber pipe then down a solid pipe into the water pump. Thanks

Hi there , you have the flow the wrong way.

Coolant goes from the pump (LHS) through that pipe into the barrels, it then exits the cylinder head from above the pipe you described above and either goes left (H model), or right (L model)

Ah yes I see it's a L. Thanks for your help. One more question 😃 will this L engine fit into a h frame?

Should do, I "think" all the mounting points are the same.
