Its actually quite normal to get 'cream' on the filler cap, its simply condensatin and oil getting together and being heated up. I bet you if you clea that off it wont be back for ages.

Have you actually found out where the brown fluid is coming from? Could be a leaky pipe and old coolant. What colour is the coolant in the expansion bottle?

if you can get it all done and sorted for a 150 quid then i would go for it. you will be fine to ride it there just keep your eye on the temp gauge ok if it gets really hot just pull over its not worth keeping going then this start to warp then no gasket will fix that, just a few bottles of water in a bag with you so you can top keep topping it up. hope you get it sorted soon.

Got a final quote off the mechanic today for £125.25 inc parts, so im just gonna get it done and if it fixes the problem; good; if not, i have a new headgasket for hardly anything but will have to keep on diagnosing the problem! Hopefully going to get it in the garage today so will let you know on the result shortly!

Just picked up bike from garage and had a freeeeeezing cold ride home!

Had headgasket done, exhaust gaskets, valve clearances, new HT lead (whatever that is??), oil and filter change

£160.25

Bike runs great now, feels really smooth especially at low revs unlike before

Blokle who did it was 'fixit bike mechanic' located in Portishead near Bristol, top bloke, great prices
