Clutch

Hiya peeps,

I recently fitted a new clutch kit because the old springs that was in the bike were like 5mm shorter then the new ones. Anyway... I've adjusted the clutch to max down by the engine hoping it would give me loads of room at the lever for play. Wrong! the clutch cable adjuster at the lever is also at it's max. Surely installing a new clutch springs will give me more play right?

Anyone else got this problem or anyone else know what the problem may be?

Cheers

Rich

Tightening the adjusters will take away the play. Loosen the lever adjustment fully, then adjust it at the engine so you have a few mm or play, lever adjustment is for the fine adjustments.
Difference length springs wont effect the play, but will affect how hard / easy it is to pull the lever.

Thats the thing though, the adjustment at the engine is at it's max, so is the the lever end and the clutch is no were near where I like having it.

Tightening them will remove the play, loosen the lever play, and adjust the engine 1 so it has just a little bit of tension then work from there.

The bracket that holds the adjuster at the gearbox end can bend fairly easily, just bend it a little to give you adjustment you require :smt002

Are you sure you're clutch cable has stretched beyond its working limit?
