Rear Sprocket Movement
Hi guys
My L2 recently developed a strange knocking noise coming from the front sprocket.
I have replaced the clip that sits on top of the front sprocket, cleaned everything up, including the chain, checked for wear and tight spots etc. The only issue remainign is that thre is movement in the rear sprocket.
First off, should the rear sprocket move at all? If so, roughly how much. At the moment mine can move both clockwise and anti-clockwise about 2-3 mm, and generally feels lose.
Secondly, will chaging the cushdrive fix this if it's not normal?
Am hoping that i can stop the knocking by just giving the final drive a bit of TLC.
Thanks for the help

Re: Rear Sprocket Movement
replace the cushdrive.
they should'nt move at all really, they do wear out. 25 quid i think from cradleys. dunno about the knocking tho, check wheel bearings?

Sorry to pick up on an old thread but dont waste your money, superglue some old bike innertube to the cushdrive if there is only a couple of mm playjake wrote:replace the cushdrive.

Re: Rear Sprocket Movement
It will as a temporary fix, I did it with mine. Ideally u replace the lot because the cush drive doesn't wear, it get compacted by the constant acceleration on deceleration. I did buy a new one once but I forget how much it was.

Re: Rear Sprocket Movement
Easy
Wheel out
remove sprocket carrier from wheel....it just pulls off
replace cush drive rubbers with new ones
refit sprocket carrier
refit wheel
The sprocket carrier might be a tight fit in the new rubbers.................A little spray with polish........I used Mister Sheen................maybe a silicon based spary polish would be good too and the carrier slips in nicely
