Just incase I can't get this bleed nipple out, and have to look at a new rear caliper ! does anyone know of any other calipers that would fit onto a H model ?
as my pistons were so jammed, and the seals knackered, i ended up getting some new brakes front brakes, from an 04 sv1000
£55 from ebay !should bolt straight on, may need a bit of shimming though.
hoping i dont have to go down the route of getting a rear too, but just wanted an idea of cost im going to be looking at if i have to - its turning out to be a very expensive month !!!!

Re: Rear Calipers for a zxr 400 (H)
looking at the pad manufactures website the following fit pads for the 400 caliper also fit
# Z 250 A1/A2/A3 1978-1981
# ZXR 400 L1-L9 1991-2003
# ZXR 400 H1/H2 1989-1990
# ZXR 400 J1/J2 1989-1990
# ZXR 400 R (ZX400) M1-M4 1991-1994
# ZX-7R (ZX750) P1/P2/P3/P4/P5/P6/P7 1996-2003
do you reckon that would mean that i could get brakes from oany of the above and they would fit ?
im really buggered now, because the stud extractor i brought to remove the buggered bleed nipple snapped off in there !

Re: Rear Calipers for a zxr 400 (H)
I wouldnt say that was true at all, because although the calipers take the same pads, doesnt mean that are the same calipers used. Im not sure why they think ZX7R pads fit the 400 because im pretty damn certain they dont, plus the mounting holes for those particular calipers are too far apart, so the calipers wont fir for a start. Im also under the understanding that H model calipers can accomodate a larger pad and that it wouldnt be the same as the L model.

bugger - so have to look for a set from a 400 then - or try and drill out this stud extractor, then drill out this bloody bleed nipple !

Re: Rear Calipers for a zxr 400 (H)
if i have to go down the road of getting a new one, do i just got for a 2 pot caliper that has the same mounting distance ?
the disc is 240mm on the back, so if i find a similar bike with a similar sized disc / mountihng distance would it do the job ???
failing that if i cant get a new bleed nipple in, can i drill it out, and somehow bleed th brake using only the one bleed point ?
atm if i try to bleed, it only works on one side

Re: Rear Calipers for a zxr 400 (H)
Im sure they used the same caliper on numerous bikes, i know the front calipers are shared with a couple of other kwaks like the ZZR600. But to be 100% sure go for a caliper from a ZXR400, H and L models have the same one too.
If you can find a disk qith the same dimension then it will probbaly work.
You should be able to bleed the caliper on one side, i personally havent bothered bleeding both sides of the caliper, it hardly gets any use really and wont take much to lock up anyhow.

will have a go bleeding it from, the rear screw then see if that does anything - am i best to just go about it the standard way, s suggested in the manual - last time i reverse bled it, which obv. didnt do the job !

might as well give it a go Do as per manual. It should still work, perhaps just not as good, but as has been said in another thread, the front brakes do most of the work when stopping anyway.
