Hi All!,
Just took my L1 for a blast to the dentists, and noticed the rev counter was reading along at 8000 rpm, when I was barely revving the engine. Took it out the road, really openned the throttle, and the neddle went past 16000, but the engine wasnt doing more than about 10 I would guess, she wasnt screaming at the red line as the roads were wet and the tank was almost empty.
Now, I have recently (6 monthes ago) added new headlight bulbs, which are higher powered, philips xtreme or something, 60/55 rating.
Havent had any issues till today. Any ideas what may be causing this? I did a search, but didnt find anything readily useful.
Cheers!

Re: Crazy Rev Counter
A few people have had this issue, and common issue has been the battery.
Prob worth chacking the connector blocks for cleanliness and see if that fixes the issue first.

Re: Crazy Rev Counter
check your CDI and fuel pump relay connections, the feed into the tachometer comes from there.

Re: Crazy Rev Counter
As Rob said, usual suspect for erratic rev counter is duff battery
