M Max box

Post by skinnydog0_0 »

Hi all,
Been stripping my new bikes electrics and have found an M Max box plugged in to the loom from the UK speedo.
I have seen these on NC30's but cant find any info on here about them being used on ZXR's?
Has anyone ever seen one used or know what it's for?

The loom on this bike has been cut to bits and added to and properly bodged.
Also the wires to teh starter lockout switch have been cut, do these need to be reconnected ( I am guessing they do?)

Cheers

its just a very expensive way of paying for a 50p resistor...it there to fool your cdi into thinking you are going slower than you actually are.

check out the stickys by rob on the "restricted bikes" subsection...loads of info in there for you.

The M max box derestricts the the CDI, it fools it into thinking the bike never reached 110mph. Its not required if you have the blue M labeled CDI.

As for the starter lockout switch, its there purely to stop you from driving off with the side stand down, so if you want that feature then re-connect. Otherwise leave it.

Thanks Rob, Yes i think i'll leave it for now.
I have also noticed that the orange wire from the main loom (i think it might be one of the wires for the flasher unit relay) has been cut :smt009
Have you ever come across this before?
