Zx4 h1 cdi

Post by Zx4 h1 »

My zx4 H1 import revs out in every gear and only gets to 90mph top end and its been suggested with it being an import its inbuilt with the rev limiter, has anyone had this issue before and is it just a case of changing the cdi??

I have combined your questions, as its the same thing.

There are 2 types of restriction, max 10k rpm, max speed 110mph (180kph)

10k rpm in top gear is about 95mph so maybe that is your issue? See if you can pin it down to either of these first.

If it is neither of these then it's nothing to do with the limiter.

And as for the cdi with M on it, that's a L CDi with no restrictor, will require modifications to your loom and a different pickup plate to work properly.

Yes it's restricted, but I don't think that is your issue.

Did you run the two tests I asked about?

I haven’t done the two tests as the bikes in the garage and they’ve had it there for months fiddling with everything and changing things like the speedo drive and god knows what else before they found out from someone else the bike may be restricted and the cause of the issue i informed them about. The clocks are in mph and the guy i got it off years ago said the bike was an animal and would hit the power band in two gears and do 140 but after the garage give it back to me as 1/3 of the bike had been taken apart so they done that i put it on the road and they had mentioned a low compression on one when i rode the bike it accelerated fine but hit the limiter in every gear causing me to change up and up and didn’t want to go past 90 in 6th

The garage said when i took it back regarding the issue they test rode it and it wouldn’t go past 10 1/2 in any gear

OK, so that's because someone has disconnected the speedo/your mph speedo doesn't have a 3-wire plug coming out of it.

Pink wire from cdi, resistor, ground and you are good to go

Is the resistor in the pink wire something you know works or something youve done yourself??

Ive sent screenshots to the garage and they’ve said if i supply the resistor there happy to fit it although if it doesn’t improve the speed i can have my bike back😓🤷🏻‍♂️😆
