Recently bought zxr400 great bike but i'm a bit of a novice to say the least mechanically, although the bike runs fantastic, there are a number of small holes I have noticed on the bottom of the downpipes which blow quite badly. Is there something I can do to patch this up or does it mean a new set of pipes.. all help greatly accepted !!![img][/img]

sounds like your headers are shot mate, mine went the same way, fortunately i found someone who had just bought a new zxr and put race ones on so got em pretty cheap, best bet is check on ebay or here!

im afraid to say it is time to replace it, you may be able to plod the holes uf for a while with some exhausts putty and a bandage, but try phoning ams motersport they are a zxr 400 breakers. i got a second hand stianless steel system off them for £200.

a mate of mine used to have an h2 with downpipes almost entirely made of strongbow cans held together with coathanger wire.

personally I'd go for scrumpy jack, thicker metal in the cans you see (plus far superior cider inside!)

some holes have appeared on my headers but they're rotted from riding everyday especially in the winter

so its down to the bike shop at the weekend, to buy a stainless micron system.

that'll be the third set of headers ive had for the zxr and ive only had it six months as the first set snapped at the flange where the end can joins, partly coz the can weighs a ton

just shows that standard systems for the zxr are turd, poo s**t and all the other words used to describe toilet logs :smt003

Mine are blowin' in the wind, too...

Has or can anyone compile a list of brands and their prices for replacement headers?

You can get the holes welded up pretty cheap. Lots cheaper than a new full system.

Thats a wicked job with the strongbow cans, must remember that!!!!
