i once had my bike lights cut out in heavy rain. the bike worked fine without the lights on but the copper behind me wasnt happy about me riding 30 miles on a dual carrageway without lights. . it turned out that the wiring had burnt through and shorted under the alternator casing. got it sorted and it has been fine since. and no more coppers on my case!
