Cookstown ROAD RACES
Just home from a great two day real road race meeting...................9th on Friday night and 14th today.
Proper good results for a fat old guy racing against hordes youths on 650 twins ( tractors)
Lap times better than last year too all on an engine built by myself.............must be screwing the screws the right way.

looks like its all heading in the right direction cargo, nothing like building your own, i know you can probably buy quicker but the satisfaction of building is just something else.
i love the fact that i can build an engine and it actually works give me a little buzz

Re: Cookstown ROAD RACES
Weather was great at Cookstown.
I had mighty craic on Saturday on the 400. We had to rebuild the engine after a con-rod 'incident' after the first race on the season at the end of March from a box of 'bits' in time for the Easter short circuits and Cookstown.
It has been running like a dog due to fueling probs but we got that sorted in time for the race on Saturday, although it took 3 laps for it to clear and start to pull again.
Happy days - at last.
Here's a pic from the short circuit at Kirkistown on Easter Monday
Easter Saturday at Bishopscourt

Re: Cookstown ROAD RACES
Was a good weekend and I'm sitting in work just now wishing I was at Tandragee. Got down to the 1:39's before the engine decided it was a bit tired and wanted a rest. Was the strongest 400 engine I've ever had a shot of before it went; a good 75hp at the rear wheel.
The Triumph was going well too down to 1:35 so a good weekend apart from the engine troubles. Good luck to anyone at Tandragee this weekend and stay safe. Let us know how you get on.

Re: Cookstown ROAD RACES
Missed you at Tandragee although I had about your engine at cookstown. Another one went pop in the Newcomers #316 at Tandragee - instead of a Room with a View it now has a casing with a view at #3 cylinder with another broken con rod.
Tandragee was a mixed bag as you will have heard of the sad news http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-northern-ireland-27268737
That happened in the second race and due to PSNI, racing didn't get started again until almost 4pm with the next 4 races being shortened to 3laps of the 7mile circuit.
Rain stayed away until Senior support when a drizzle started.
I was 6th in Supersport 400 and Cargo was 4th - as usual I had probs getting mine off the line, but at least we seem to have the problem with the carbs sorted.
Hopefully you will get the engine rebuilt and be back over for more Irish road racing this year.
